Tbilisi, Georgia: What to Eat, Drink, & Do as a Traveler, Expat, or Nomad
Quiz: Which European country has become the latest expat favorite thanks to its affordability and old-world charm?
Answer: Georgia! Here you’ll find beautiful European-style architecture mixed with Middle Eastern and Mediterranean elements, says writer and photographer Emily Lush. “All these different cultures cross pollinated here over a long time, and Georgia made it into something all of its own.”
Emily moved to Georgia after falling in love with its history, culture, textiles, and architecture, like Armenian merchant houses, opulent mansions, mosques, and Orthodox churches.
During our conversation on the LIVE Without Borders podcast, Emily told me that, in Georgia, “A guest is a gift from God and people really take this seriously. There's nothing people won't do for you in terms of welcoming you into their homes, sharing food and wine. It's an incredibly generous culture in that way.”

Who knows, maybe after listening to this episode you’ll want to move to Georgia, too. If so, you’re in luck because Georgia makes it really easy for foreigners to live and work there.
